When we released our new stripping discs capable of stripping paint without the need for using stripper, we created a reasonably large problem. How to strip the underside of overlapping boards without stripper? If we couldn’t find a solution the only real option would have been to apply stripper to the undersides and scrape off in the traditional way.
To overcome this problem, we developed an attachment which we call The Underside Pro. It has a mini disc and a guide which aligns the disc at 90 degrees to the face of the weatherboards. It has two adjustments – one to adjust the depth to suit the thickness of the weatherboards and a height adjustment that controls the amount of paint you want to remove. It also has a guard to prevent the operator from being covered in water and sanding waste.
Trade painters who have used the attachment have been very impressed – all saying that they have been able to strip all the undersides of the boards on average sized houses in around 3-4 hours. This is way faster than applying stripper, removing the paint by manually scraping, washing down to remove the excess stripper, then waiting for the timber to dry before a final dry sand Way quicker.
